Tea Time with a Passion !

Tuna with Sumac, Green Beans, Sun dried Tomatoes, Fresh Tomato's, Passion Fruit and Pancetta Salad....Phew !

OK this sounds like a store cupboard and fridge clear out meal but it works and it it was delicious and I strongly recommend you try it today ! Sumac is a tangy lemony spice which is great sprinkled over a salad or meat instead of normal seasoning.
Its really simple to put this salad together. First cook your fresh Green beans and refresh them in cold water. Allow the beans to drain. In a mixing bowl slice some Sun-blushed tomato's and the skins of a tomato. Basically you need to cut the tomato in half and delicately take out the seed core so you are just left with the skin which you then slice neatly depending on how many glasses of wine you have sank while making this dish.
Next add half a very finely sliced chili which I borrowed from next doors garden. Well they are on holiday so I'm sure they wont miss it ! I must remember to go and feed their goldfish before they get back though ! ha ha !
Next put your Green Beans into the bowl and sprinkle a couple of pinches of the Sumac powder into it. Now for a bit more of a fruity kick scoop the insides of half a passion fruit into the salad and pour some of the sun-dried tomato oil into bowl also. Now gently mix the the lot together.
Right that's the salad done now on a hot griddle cook Your Tuna Steak for about 3 minutes either side. Then let it rest. It should be pink in the middle unless like me you were on your second glass of vino and it suddenly became well done !! idiot !

I brought some smoked Pancetta yesterday on my culinary travels and was going to use it sparingly but thought a few good chunks of this deliciously fab little baby would just finish this dish off.

Ooooooo Baby......Pancetta.....emmmmmmh.......Pancetta !
I simply diced the Pancetta and fried it in a pan. You can if you want put the juices and oils from the pan into your salad but I did not as I didn't want to lose the fresh taste of the salad.

I really loved this dish, The crunch from the Green beans, the fruity tang of the Sumac and passion fruit, and the smoked salty pancetta compliment the wonderfully fresh Tuna......Enjoy !

I know this is a bit Cheeky but Ive started a Facebook page and I am trying to see how many Likes I can get (35 so far !!! Ha ha ) so it would be great if you are on face book and would like it. Cheers.

  1. This looks so good, I love fresh tuna. I would have never thought to combine it with pancetta but can totally see (taste) it working. I do tend to fry peas in bacon or pancetta so would love it with beans too. I found you through Delicious Magazine's Facebook post asking for foodie blogs :)
