It's always quiet in January and February in the kitchen at work and at home. At work everyone has spent their money over the festive Christmas and New year period so the normally busy service dies down as people go to bed early waiting for the end of February to come so they can start spending there pay packet again on living ! January's wages are usually spent trying to catch up on the abused Christmas credit card !
This is normally great to hear but as a Cook you love to be cooking and creating on the stoves but if you have few customers then you have to think about the kitchen waste. Most Chef's for about the first 10 days of January Party to make up for the lack of Christmas Cheer they have endured in December. There are not many Christmas Jumpers wore during December in most kitchens ! The Chefs are usually the ones sat in the pub in January on there own or with a few other grey and pasty looking individuals at lunch time acting like some drunken hooded gang spending there ill gotten Xmas gains (Tips !)
A Grey sky hovers above for the few hours of daylight that we normally receive which does nothing to lift what is a very depressing time of the year in England !
Ok enough of the cheerful blog posting !!! ha ha ha !
I personally love going out (when sober) and trying to get some kind of photograph.Although the grey sky means you have to work a bit harder I love the gritty images that you can get at this time of year. Here's a few I took today......Enjoy !
