I purchased the chillies from my good mate Emily at Meldon Park late last year.
The truly vibrate fresh flavour her chillies gave this dish is hard to put into words but if you like your chilli I would pay her a visit when they are in season.
I could not be bothered to take out all the seeds from the chillies so I thought I would be brave and just slice the lot, put into a pan with a big gulp of white wine vinegar and a big handful of sugar.
To say it was one spicy mama would be an understatement.
It was more like being cut in half with Luke Skywalkers light sabre !
If I was going to sell it I came up with a great slogan " If it does'nt get you on the way down it will on the way out ! " I can see it now on the shelves at Sainsbury.
But it was blinking lovely.
I spread it on cheese, used a spoon of it to bring to life a tomato sauce for pasta, used it as a base for my spices to make a curry paste but as unsophisticated as it may sound I loved it most when I would cut a pickled egg in half and spread some of molten lava over it. Admitly I tended to have it when I had been on a night out on the lash but wow.
Sadly I had the last spoon of it yesterday. I ate it neat. The burning pleasure will stay with me until Emily has more to sell.
RIP.
